English Civil War Society Brampton Bryan August 2013

The English Civil War Society returned to Brampton Bryan on the weekend of the 10th-11th August 2013. This third visit from the ECWS was on a much bigger scale than previously, with over 70 re-enactors and more than a dozen Living History tents. Cannons, Muskets and a full scale engagement brought to life the siege of Brampton Bryan Castle when brave Brilliana Harley saw off the wastrel Royalists.

This year there was also an authentic seventeenth century service (albeit not a Puritan one, and much shorter than they would have had it), and a procession from the re-enactment site to the church to lay a wreath on Brilliana's tomb. The porcession was a wonderful sight.
