Book Group News: Next Light Prints Book Group Date, Tues 27th February, 6.30pm

The Light Prints Book Group will be holding its next discussion on Tuesday 27th February, 6.30pm-8pm at the Bookery. The book is: "Flowers for Algernon" by Daniel Keyes. Interested? Do contact them and they will send you a free copy of the book to read, then come along and talk about it in a small friendly group.

Local events: Borderlines Film Festival! and "The Bookshop"

We are delighted to be sponsoring a showing of a film at Borderlines this year! The film is "The Bookshop" starring Bill Nighy, based on the book by Penelope Fitzgerald.

We'll be at The Courtyard Hereford on Tuesday 6th March - I believe it's almost sold out!

Saturday 31st March, Easter Gardening event with the Cottage Herbery, 10am-4pm

Front cover Herbs Handbook by Kim HurstFor this year's garden event we are delighted to announce that RHS judge and nurserywoman Kim Hurst will be launching a new book, "A Taste of Herbs: The Cottage Herbery Herb Notebook", so come along to meet and talk to her, and get your copies of her book signed too! At the event there will be lots of plants from the RHS Chelsea Gold Medal winning Cottage Herbery, also vintage garden pots and equipment, and live music from Ivan and Friends to entertain you too!

We will also be opening a two-week sculpture exhibition on the same day: do come along and enjoy both events!

Paul Caton: Fifty Years, and Paul Bearman, Animalia

Paul Bearman HarePictured here, examples of work by the two sculptors exhibiting: Three large sycamore bowls by Paul Caton and Hare by Paul Bearman. Paul Caton sculpts in wood and stone, and Paul Bearman in many materials including a metal composite cement.

We are planning to hold a Private View on Friday 30th March, 11am-2pm. If you are interested, please contact us for invitations, which we will be printing soon!

And, our first Flea market event of the year will be:

Monday 28th May: Bank Holiday Brocante, 9am-3pm

Bookings are coming in already, if you are interested in taking a stall, last year's prices will be held until the end of January (£10 per 6ft space, plus £3 if you wish to hire a table). Give us a call on 01547 530744; we ask for payment in advance to reserve places on the list.

Valentine's Frieze

Come for free crafts activities, 11am-3pm and create something beautiful our of found materials!

We're always delighted to welcome back Annie Thompson and Tilly. Annie specialises in creating original crafty things out of natural materials, and is a regular at WOMAD.

Thursday March 1st: World Book Day 

We usually hold a schools' day, when classes visit from local primary schools on the day; of course your World Book Day vouchers are valid for a month, until 31st March and we will accept them!

In 2016 the craft activities included creating a pretty Valentine's frieze, and at our Easter Event in April 2014, look what Annie Thompson created with the children - A beautiful Spring Frieze!

Aardvark Books Schools' Events

We often host children's authors and have recently welcomed Katy Moran and Paul Dowswell to talk about their books. We can also provide educational visits to our art and map exhibitions, and visits by arrangement. Children from local schools have also enjoyed visits to the BookBurrow.

Children's Activities at Aardvark Books

The BookBurrow is always open during bookshop hours for browsing, play and reading! Do come and see the castle, pirate ship and princess seat, and enjoy a happy hour or two in a space created for inspiration and imagination.
