 - From The Solstice to our Jazz Brunch and Sale!

Our next event is:

Sat 24th June - Sun 2nd July 2017: The Solstice

A Group Show by The Solstice Painters of Montgomery, and friends

The artists are: painters Jill Bowen-Jones, Bob Charlesworth, Dorothy Charlesworth, Deirdre Davies, Glenda Davies, Kathy Heinzelmann, Enid Hill, Hilary Jones, Ian Jones, Sylvia Mills and Valerie Vine; with guest artist Bamber Hawes (sculptor,mixed media).

Saturday 15th July, 11am-2pm: Jazz Brunch and Grand Sale Opening!

11am-2pm, French or English style brunches, live jazz for a cool summer's day, and there'll be lots of books at bargain prices, to browse through and buy! All are welcome, there'll be bargains throughout the shop, and free entry and parking.

15th-30th July: Grand Book Sale!

You are invited to the the Aardvark Book Sale, our opportunity to have a bit of a warehouse clearout! For two weeks only, until Sunday 30th July. Lots of discounts, many bargains and hidden gems to be unearthed! Free entry and parking, all welcome!

Looking forward to August:

Sunday 6th August: Brampton Bryan Scarecrow Sunday

The village will be peopled with scarecrows, and there'll be lots of fun family activities as well as your annual opportunity to have a guided tour of the ruined castle! Fundraising event for the upkeep of Brampton Bryan Church, and a great community get-together! We will be open as usual from 10am-4pm and we're waiting to hear what this year's theme will be before we press Peregrine into action once again.

Saturday  12th and Sunday 13th August: English Civil War Society Re-enactment

of the 1643 Sieges of Brampton Bryan, with Martin Hackett's models and Adrian Durkin's family-friendly, hands-on historical activities!

We are delighted to once again host the English Civil War Society, who will bring a grand Re-enactment of the Sieges of Brampton Bryan, with cannon, muskets, cavalry, living history village and much more 17th century fun for all the family. Entry £4 adults, under-16s free. (Entry fee is to cover costs as the ECWS is a voluntary society). Free parking, bar and hot and cold refreshments available, all welcome!

NB Be warned, cannon fire is very LOUD and children, animals and those of a nervous disposition may find it distressing.

Monday 28th August - Our August Bank Holiday Vide Grenier (Attic Sale):

Antiques, vintage, plants, live music from Blue Moon, children's craft activities, hot and cold café refreshments and a bar; the French-style "empty your attic" sale, book a stall or come and buy! Free entry, free parking, more details tba.

Our calendar of events for this year is here  -  there are many treats in store!

Saturday 8th-23rd April  - "Fire and Earth"  Special ceramics exhibition, showcasing the work of 18 potters, clay artists and ceramicists, curated by Shannon Donovan. Artists include Stephen Cox RA, Andrew Crouch, Shannon Donovan, Ken Eastman, Andrew Eastwood, Rob Fountain, Nancy Frost, Tony Hall, Verity Howard, Garry Jones, Corinna Kenyon-Wade, Maggie Kingston, Hajeong Lee, Bev Milward, Jonathan Phillips, Phil Rogers, Gill Tennant-Eyles, and Basil Titford.

Saturday 15th April, 10am-4pm - the Aardvark Easter Event with The Cottage Herbery, live music and children's Easter crafts with Annie Thompson.

Saturday 29th April "Maps and Mansions" The Aardvark antique map exhibition 2017 opens 11am - exhibition runs to Sunday 14th May, 4pm.

Monday 29th May, 9am - 3pm  -  Our popular Bank Holiday Brocante sale with live music from Norrie Davies, fabulous antique and vintage stalls and homemade soup and cake! We're taking bookings, prices are: £10 for a 6ft space, plus £3 if you need to hire a table from us.

Saturday 3rd -18th June  -"Worlds and Otherworlds", Shropshire Hills Art Week exhibition, artists wil be: Susie Cawley, Bob Cunning, Kim Davis, Maggie Davis, Nancy Frost, Michael Hancock, Tim Harral, Isobel Hutton, Sarah Jameson, Jane Keay, Helena Orlowski, Katherine Soutar Caddick, Pearl Taylor, and Bronte Woodruff.

Saturday 7th October, 2pm -Arcadia Music Festival event at Aardvark Books: "French Music and the Harp" Illustrated talks by Roger Nichols and Hugh Webb, tickets £10.00, please reserve seats in advance.

11th-15th October - the Aardvark annual visit to the Frankfurt International Bookfair.

Sunday 22nd October, 10am - 3pm  - Our Autumn Brocante event - antiques, vintage and live music from Norrie Davies.

Saturday 18th November, 10am-4pm - a fabulous Winter Event, plus live music, children's crafts with Annie Thompson and warming homemade soup!

Sunday 10th December, 10am-3pm - the Aardvark Christmas Fair, antiques, vintage, crafts, live music, mince pies, mulled wine.... Jollity!

Monday 28th August 2017, Aardvark Vide-Grenier: Annie Thompson's summer crafts

We're always delighted to welcome back Annie Thompson and Tilly. Annie specialises in creating original crafty things out of natural materials, and is a regular at WOMAD.

Last year, Sat 14th February 2016 the craft activities included creating this frieze: pretty, and fun!

Aardvark Books Schools' Events

We often host children's authors and have recently welcomed Katy Moran and Paul Dowswell to talk about their books. We can also provide educational visits to our art and map exhibitions, and visits by arrangement. Children from local schools have also enjoyed visits to the BookBurrow.

Children's Activities at Aardvark Books

The BookBurrow is always open during bookshop hours for browsing, play and reading! Do come and see the castle, pirate ship and princess seat, and enjoy a happy hour or two in a space created for inspiration and imagination.
