A wintry day but its warm inside
After having negotiated a flurry of slurpy snow on the way to the Bookery I am glad to say that the woodburner lit first time and we now have a roaring fire filling our large building with heat. This is really the first week of running the woodburner ( it took a while for the safety screen to be delivered) and we are still experimenting with how to make it work.
I still seem to be able to set the fire alarm system off ( perhaps this time due to the extra heat that it puts out), but so far it is pleasantly smoke free which is definitely a bonus. I think all woodburners take a few months to truly bed down and no doubt ours will be the same, but it is certainly a pleasing addition ahead of this winter.
I am now more than three quarters of the way through listing the books that we got at Frankfurt and the shop is full of wonderful books on art, photography, illustration, crafts, architecture and much more. I also last week bought an interesting group of mostly older second hand art books and it has been a delight to revisit some of the iconic exhibitions that the Museum of Modern Art put on in the 50's and 60's under the museums first director Alfred Barr.
Today I am listing a large group of books from the Natural History Museum, as well as dodging the temptation to order myself a delicious dark hot chocolate ( it really is that kind of weather). In two weeks time we have our Winter Event ( on the 23rd of November), and I am looking forward to hearing some wonderful jazz music in the shop once more. Then we have only the Christmas Fair ( now fully booked) left on our calendar for 2019. Now quickly the year has gone by.
