Notes:1st 1931 Hardback Winsor and Newton London; volume 1 only; in very good condition with foxing to ffep only, all four colour plates - including the fold out plate 3, and the original cellophane detached guard to plate 2; Wilhelm Ostwald was a Nobel Prize winning chemist who became interested in colour theory and who then worked with Walter Gropius at the Bauhaus; this copy was owned by the noted German born New Zealand architect Gerhard Rosenberg - and is signed by him - who was also highly influenced by the Bauhaus; despite being a member of the emigre architectural group in New Zealand led by Plischke, Rosenberg wrote the important article on Maori housing in 1959
