Culture Vulture26th June 2014

Last week saw the Aardvarks in full culture mode, and the shop continued to be very busy every day. Tuesday we were invited to the Hereford College of Art Degree Show in  their new building on the campus of the National School for the Blind. The standard of both the decorative and fine art students is always very high, and we were impressed as always by the metal work, sculpture, textiles and fine art.

HIstory and fun this summer19th June 2014

I have been working today on another event planned for this summer the Aardvark History Weekend. One theme in the weekend will be the Herefordshire Picturesque movement and  I now have confirmed that Professor Charles Watkins will be coming to talk about Uvedale Price,  and Peter Burden will be talking about Richard Payne Knight. We will also have some exhibits, as well as a collection of early 20th century photographs of Herefordshire that I have recently purchased.

A warm Saturday in June14th June 2014

After another busy week in the bookshop - I can't remember a busier start to June for some years - today seems much quieter, and I fear that we will lose out to the alternative attractions of village fetes, trips to the seaside or simply sitting in one's own garden.

Great response to the inaugural South Shropshire Art Week5th June 2014

Another really good day of sales at our South Shropshire Art Week exhibition. This new event has really managed to establish itself, and we have even had some visitors who are cycling from venue to venue ( no small feat given the number of hills crammed into the South Shropshire area.

June starts with a bang3rd June 2014

June has started just as May ended. With full on activity in the bookshop, exhibition space and the café. In our pop up gallery we are hosting a big group exhibition curated by Shannon Donovan for the inaugural Shropshire Hills Art Week. Over the first three days we have had 250 people through the exhibition with lots of good comments and sales!
