Winter Event arrives on time21st November 2015

The Winter event was the first Aardvark Event we held after our Grand Opening in September 2007, and it has taken many forms over the years. One of my favourites was the year that we launched a book on Curry and the shop was filled with the smells of Mulligatawny. That first Winter Event the music was provided by the Trevor Davies trio and I am delighted that Trevor will be with us on today. And how about this for timing. The Winter Event arrives on the day of the first cold snap of the season.

Phew. The last week we have been busy, busy, busy with our online orders and some quite busy days in the bookshop too. This time of year is always an anxious one as you hope for lots of Christmas orders, and then worry about getting them all processed and out on time.

A wet day ...7th November 2015

There is an old Aardvark saying that wet days bring in customers and today is no exception ( this doesn't work if all the roads around us are flooded as they were last year). The on-line orders are also very plentiful, and it  looks like this is going to be a long day all round. However Dawn has delivered in fresh cake supplies and we are therefore fully equipped for whatever or whoever arrives.

Autumn alert1st November 2015

Falling leaves and fog alert one to the fact that autumn is well and truly here. Strangely though temperatures continue to be quite mild, and the result may well be one of those years when Winter arrives very suddenly.
