News came through this morning of the death of Peter O'Toole. That he made it into his eighties seems incredible, not just because of the tales of his carousing, but more because of the way in which his performances burned as a young man. In Lawrence, or The Ruling Classes he seemed to possess an almost superhuman life force.

Countdown to Christmas, Buying Books13th December 2013

Last Sunday our Christmas Market was the last Aardvark event of 2013 and I am glad to say that it was a great success, with hundreds of people enjoying a glass of mulled wine whilst viewing crafts and bric-a-brac. We have now started the countdown to Christmas, and the telephone is ringing with people ordering books.

Website, wind, new books5th December 2013

What looked like a few small arrows on Liam's weather map yesterday, has become a howling gale that has knocked down signs, taken down our power ( now fortunately back up again ), and rattled the windows and doors. A few hardy customers have blown in through the front door, but I am not expecting hoards of people if this keeps up.
