The Aardvark Blog

The Aardvark Blogger is always busy!

Lots going on with events and visitors to the bookshop. Not to mention plans for next year, markets and fairs, author events, live music and much more. Keep looking in to find out about everything that is happening in the bookshop in the middle of nowhere.

Easter holidays at Aardvark30th March 2016

I am afraid that Arthur Aardvark has been suffering from manflu (or perhaps aardvark flu), and has therefore spent a bit of time away from the bookshop. Now back raring to go, I am beginning the daunting task of pricing up another 900 DVDs, and also trying to keep track of the online sales which have been surprisingly good.

Slow start, busy week coming up12th March 2016

One of the peculiarities of Aardvark is that except in the heights of summer, it is very difficult to know how many people will come in to see us on any particular day. Today is a case in point. There is everything from picture books (hardback and paperback), young fiction, puzzle books and YA fiction. A fantastic selection for children of all ages (and not a few adults too!).

Beautiful morning, exciting days and weeks ahead5th March 2016

Driving down here, the sun was smiling and R3 was playing a piece by a follower of Haydn, which would have cheered the greatest of grouches (and Arthur Aardvark is many things, but not that). I have been buying and viewing books at a frantic pace recently, and I am reminded of the Edna St Vincent Millais poem (My candle burns at both ends, It will not last the night; But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends - It gives a lovely light). More book buying to come with the prospect of a good stack of theology and art books within the next few weeks, and yet more in April.
