2015 awaits31st December 2014

Have come into the shop for a few hours to sort out a few things before the year end. This year has been quieter between Christmas and New Year, but then again the period in December before Christmas was much busier. Overall we are going to be over 10% up in the shop this month, and over 5% up for the shop for the year. A very pleasing performance.

And at last we have got through to Christmas Eve, after what has been a very busy shopping season at Aardvark Books. All the customer orders have now arrived and been picked up - the only exception being a book I ordered for my sister's present, which still hasn't arrived  after 2 weeks ( you know who you are Paperbackshop).

An endless river of books, a dreck day, a warm hearth11th December 2014

Today has seen several people bring in books to show me - sadly most of which were not really suitable. Such is the size of Aardvark Books that people sometimes assume that we buy every book that is offered to us. Sadly that  is not the case, and only one in four or five books is suitable for purchasing.

Christmas Fair 20157th December 2014

Aardvark's Christmas Fair has just opened, and the first visitors are starting to arrive. The sun is shining, and it beautifully mild, so why not come out today to Brampton Bryan and experience our wonderful Christmas event !

If you miss this and are still feeling Christmassy, we are doing late night shopping with mulled wine, mince pies and free gift wrapping on the 18th of December until 7pm. Do come along if you fancy some last-minute gift shopping!

Christmas is very much upon us2nd December 2014

After a very busy few months, the shop is suddenly even busier - particularly online - with a morning spent in a blur picking over 60 orders that have come in overnight. I am always amazed at the titles that people order for Christmas (these days there are far fewer traditional gift books, and far more books that people really need).
