After more than 2 years of avoiding the dreaded plague the last week was the week when it finally hit Aardvark in a big way with mulitiple colleagues out and even Ethel and Arthur laid low. Fortunately Arthur having brought the lurgy back from the Frankfurt Bookfair is now clear and back in the saddle, but Ethel is still a sad and pale creature and it will be some days before she returns. In our abscence Lucy and P. have been taking the strain and I am very grateful to them for their hardwork in difficult circumstances.
Speaking of difficult circs the Royal Mail strike action continues and my apologies to any-one who has ordered from us and had their order delayed. We have also had a few items either not delivered or delivered to wrong addresses. Very frustrating particularly at this time of year.
Don't forget if you can't find what you want in our ever growing online catalogue you can also order books from our bookshop on bookshop.org. Just click here to be taken to the latest Aardvark selections.
One good thing about my not going on holiday this week is that I have been able to do some out of hours work putting on some of the many incredible titles that we have bought in recent months. These include brilliant Folio Society volumes, lots of new genre fiction, travel, history and our best ever selection of art, architecture and design titles. I really feel that we are becoming one of the best art bookshops in the country and outside of London - and the ever wonderful Chichester Art Books - possibly the best in the country. Lots of fantastic Christmas presents and don't forget we can arrange for presents to be gift wrapped and sent if required.
I have also just had in another selection of Christmas cards and calendars. A good calendar makes a fantastic present and we have multiple designs including the slim Simon Drew catalogue which I failed to order last year.
And amongst the dates for your diary do not forget our brilliant Christmas Fair on the 4th of December, which is accompanied by open studios across Brampton Bryan, There will be some superb Christmas presents available so as ever Brampton Bryan can be your one-stop shop for quirky and original presents.
Now coffee awaits - I am glad to say that the new flavours of Covid do not seem to impact on taste or appetite - and I look forward to seeing you between now and Christmas.
