New Year Resolutions 2
New Year Resolutions 2
After a busy Saturday I am setting out this morning to pick online orders before customers start to arrive. My last New Year resolution therefore is not to see the work we do here as a task, or a chore or a problem. Over the last few days I have lost count of the number of customers who have said very complimentary things about Aardvark. When you live with something day in day out it is easy to get a bit blasé and to forget how lucky one is. As Nick Hornby put it in High Fidelity, owning a record store ( or a bookshop) truly is one of the top five things to do ( and way ahead of astronaut ).
Yesterday another 12 boxes of mixed books arrived in the shop, and I know that my first job on Tuesday when I get in will be to go through them. And already I can see some gems peaking out through the open flaps. Truly running a bookshop is like having Christmas every day of the year.
For some continued Christmas good cheer therefore we are open today until 4pm and then we re-open on Tuesday at 9.00am after a well deserved New Year's day break ( eating left-overs and watching the New Year's Day concert from Vienna).
Happy New Year and may 2018 bring you everything you wish for.
