Nothing like a week's holiday
I have had nearly a week off from the bookshop and have come back to discover that truly I am not indispensible. The building seems to be cleaner and tidier than before I left , and sales in my absence have been fine. Having said that the piles of books to be processed look if anything higher than before I left, so perhaps I still have a job to do.
Planning for summer events is well under way so don't forget that we will have Brampton Bryan's Scarecrow Sunday on the first Sunday of August, Aardvark's brilliant Bank Holiday Car Boot on Monday the 30th of August , and the Aardvark Herefordshire Art Week Exhibition featuring the painters of Abstract Edge from the 4th-19th of September.
Finally next Tuesday will be J's last day in the bookshop as she is leaving us to start a new career with BT. We are extremely grateful to her for all the hard work she has put in over the last few years, for her good humour over the dreaded Covid period and particularly when she was furloughed, and for all the ideas and passion she has brought to the bookshop. She will be missed.
We will be looking to replace her in the autumn so please send us your CV and letter in the interim if you are mad enough to want to work in a bookshop.
