Countdown to Christmas, Buying Books
Last Sunday our Christmas Market was the last Aardvark event of 2013 and I am glad to say that it was a great success, with hundreds of people enjoying a glass of mulled wine whilst viewing crafts and bric-a-brac. We have now started the countdown to Christmas, and the telephone is ringing with people ordering books.
Surprisingly we are still getting calls from people to view books which they have for sale, and on Tuesday I went down to the Cotswolds to buy a good group of art books and catalogues from a lady who was moving to Hampshire. Some of them are titles we have had before such as the stunning Royal Academy catalogue of their Mantegna exhibition, but others were new to me including a wonderful catalogue of Bernard Jacobson's landmark exhibition of David Bomberg. All of which means that we are still busy processing books, and notwithstanding reasonably healthy sales online and in the shop, our range of books is the biggest it has been for a few years.
Apart from Christmas Day and Boxing Day we are open throughout December, so do drop in to see us if you feel like a change from Christmas Pudding and Turkey.
