Clwyd Art Fund, Shropshire Books, Map Exhibition, Fire and Earth, Stuart Davies
Many thanks to the Clwyd Art Fund who came en masse yesterday to the bookshop and café, before going on to visit Brampton Bryan Hall. Really nice to see the shop so full, and thank you also for all the appreciative comments. Admittedly Ethel's homemade roast vegetable soup is incredibly delicious!
With all the purchasing going on recently I forgot to mention that we bought a very nice group of Shropshire books recently, which are slowly hitting the shelves. Also purchased were nearly 200 exceptionally good condition classical CD's which have been selling fast.
I spent Thursday at the auctions, bidding on some items to add to our forthcoming Map exhibition which opens on Saturday 29th of April. I have again been able to pull together a really interesting group of material, and if you are interested in maps please make a date in your calendar for our exhibition which will open at 11am. This year's exhibition is entitled 'Maps and Mansions', as it also contains some wonderful prints of Herefordshire and Shropshire houses and scenes.
A massive thanks to Andrew Eastwood and Shannon Donovan for all the work they have been doing this week for the forthcoming Ceramics extravaganza 'Fire + Earth'. Andrew has devised a new lighting scheme for the exhibition and Shannon has been proofreading the catalogue (in between also working at her own editing work and art).
Finally this morning's post brought a very welcome item - a letter from Stuart Davies, regular customer and also my co-curator on a number of earlier map exhibitions. Stuart has endured over a year of very bad health, but he is obviously on the mend and able to contemplate moving forward with his life. I look forward to seeing him back down in Herefordshire before too long.
