Meetings with Remarkable Books, Summer Sextet, Scarecrow Sunday
Last week we started a new series of videos on our Facebook page 'Meetings with Remarkable Books'. The idea is to highlight some of the incredible books that come through the shop and to give people an impression of what makes an unusual or collectible book. Second instalment uploads next week and spoiler alert, it features Daphne du Maurier.
Next weekend we have two events at Aardvark Books that you really should try to catch. First off we have a wonderful new exhibition curated by Rob Fountain whose work we included in our landmark ceramic exhibition 'Fire and Earth' last year. Rob is a ceramic artist of great distinction and this new exhibition features five friends of his whose work for the exhibition features seasonality and related themes. The exhibition opens at 11am on Saturday and all are welcome.
On Sunday Aardvark will again be joining in the festivities for the annual Brampton Bryan Scarecrow spectacular. During the year people often ask when it is possible to visit the castle and the answer is during Scarecrow Sunday! This is a crucial fundraiser to support our nationally important church (one of only 6 churches built during the Commonwealth) and the event includes lots of stalls and things to do. Not to be missed.
Finally this weekend you have two more days to look through the many bargains at £0.50 in the Aardvark annual sale. We have put out lots more books since the opening weekend, so even if you have been in it would be worth your while taking a second look.
