Second May Car Boot, Stephen Cox at Houghton Hall, Teaser for summer sale
After an incredibly busy first May Flea Market last Monday, it is only a few weeks until our second flea of the month on Sunday 25th of May. Stalls are already booking up, and as ever there will be a different mixture of exhibitors from last time.
One addition that I should mention now will be the wonderful Cottage Herbery who were unable to be with us last Monday due to a clash with a garden event. I am already putting together a list of plants that I am hoping to find on their stall - having just got a new garden there are inevitably some gaps that will need filling - and the two wonderful Pelargoniums that I bought are already thriving in their new home.
I popped in to see a friend during the week and she told me about a wonderful exhibition at Houghton Hall by friend of Aardvark and previous Aardvark exhibitee Stephen Cox RA. Stephen Cox at Houghton Hall opened last weekend and will be on until the end of September, so if you find yourself in North Norfolk I would very much recommend a visit (we are hoping to go in July on our way to the Suffolk coast). Those with long memories of Aardvark events will remember the small exhibition we put on of Stephen's drawings linked to the Mappa Mundi, and he was also a key contributor to our magnificent ceramics show 'Fire and Earth'.
Speaking of that show, this autumn we are mounting a memorial exhibition for another of the Fire and Earth exhibitors, the late and much missed Phil Rogers. This exhibition for Herefordshire Art Week (6th-14th September 2025) will include many pieces for sale as well as numerous loan pieces, and is an opportunity for people locally to get an idea of the breadth of talent that we have lost in Phil's passing. We still have catalogues for the Fire and Earth show available at £1 each.
Finally I am already clearing the decks of the Easter sale books and starting on putting together the even larger summer sale. One element of this will be our usual extra 10% discount on all items in the shop AND a special 1/3rd discount on all maps and prints, on the first and last weekends. There will also be some £1 prints and much more. Don't miss it this summer!
