'Syrinx and Harp', October Brocante, new titles in store
In two weeks' time Aardvark will be hosting a very exciting event in this year's Arcadia Music Festival, 'Syrinx and Harp': a two-part illustrated talk that will explore two different aspects of the musical programme this year.
"The Eternal Dreamer" is an illustrated history and demonstration of the harp by world-renowned musician Hugh Webb. Hugh will be bringing several instruments and the talk will be a multi-media presentation with visuals to accentuate his musical illustrations.
"Sense and Sensuality" - the second half of the afternoon's programme - is a talk by Roger Nichols looking at some of the features that make French music so alluring. This will be accompanied by musical illustrations from the full Arcadia ensemble. Tickets are £10 available either from Aardvark Books or the Ludlow Assembly Rooms Box Office.
Later in the month is our last Brocante of the year on the 22nd of October. We are almost full for this, but there are a very few spaces left. If you would like a space (which are £10 for the space and an additional £3 if you require a table), please call us shortly. Should be a fantastic event - we'll have Norrie Davies playing her accordion to give a French flavour to the atmosphere too!
Finally after a few weeks in which other priorities have got in the way, I am again returning to putting lots of books onto our system. I have also been out buying this week, with two calls to come next week. After that there will be our usual influx of art and related titles in October, following our annual trip to Frankfurt Book Fair. This year the Aardvarks will be driving across to Germany - and back again, all being well. Lots to see and buy at Aardvark this autumn, with new greetings card designs, our biggest ever range of calendars, and even lots of delightful fluffy toys! Truly a box of delights.
