Easter holidays at Aardvark
I am afraid that Arthur Aardvark has been suffering from manflu (or perhaps aardvark flu), and has therefore spent a bit of time away from the bookshop. Now back raring to go, I am beginning the daunting task of pricing up another 900 DVDs, and also trying to keep track of the online sales which have been surprisingly good.
Easter Saturday at Aardvark was tremendously busy as always and we didn't leave the shop until after 9.00pm (cashing up, taking down the outside tent in the wind, etc). Many thanks to all who helped make the event special - Helen and Richard ( two things with strings), an intrepid Kim from the Cottage Herbery, Sarah Rogers Chocolatier extraordinaire and Annie whose crafts are always popular with children and parents alike.
Next week I have a long delayed trip to pick up some interesting art books, and the following week is the London Bookfair ( and no doubt even more book purchasing).
But above all we are now concentating on the launch of our next map exhibition on Saturday 30th of April. We have our usual fantastic selection of maps for sale, and this year are also including some remarkable illustrated books of the area ( many of which also contain maps). One sad piece of news is that Stuart Davies who helped us so much with previous map exhibitions is very unwell after an operation at the turn of the year. Our best wishes go out to Stuart and our thanks for all he has done over the years to help us.
